Back from Japan and continuing with our series of ticket giveaways, today we have a pair of tickets for both of THE ACCUSED's local shows next weekend: Friday the 16th @ Knitting Factory and Saturday the 17th @ Alex's Bar in Long Beach. THE ACCUSED hail from Seattle, which explains their seemingly unlikely association with Southern Lord. They have been around forever and label-head Greg Anderson saw and played with them during his formative years in the northwest. The band was a bit out of place opening for Anderson's SUNN O))) in Eagle Rock a few months ago, but put on an impressive performance for a crowd that wasn't mentally prepared to give the physical energy that lead singer Brad Mowen was demanding. THE ACCUSED's only remaining founding member is guitarist Tom Neimeyer and, to be blunt, this guy is the shit. He has consistently delivered riffs that are timeless, and does so again on their most recent release, The Curse of Martha Splatterhead, described quite appropriately by Terrorizer as:
lo-fi horror-laced thrash that sounds so much heavier and more venomous for the attentions of [producer Billy] Anderson. A rarity in an age where third rate bit-players witha misguided sense of entitlement can be found cranking out a reunion album. The Accused throb like an infected wound with genuine danger and urgency.
