Professor Bunkum works with Edward Colver, the famed LA punk photographer. He's been helping Edward find a wider audience for some of the most important photos in rock history. When the Professor was looking for merch companies, I suggested Shirtkiller out of Louisville, Kentucky. Shirtkiller is run by Ryan Patterson of COLISEUM, a punishing Relapse band that will be in town on May 3rd at the Key Club supporting NAPALM DEATH. Mr. Patterson knows metal, he knows punk, he knows art, and most importantly for Edward, he knows how to produce a quality shirt. The roster of bands he's assembled is impressive, including many of the finest metal underground bands from the Southeast such as BARONESS, KYLESA, TORCHE, and YOUNG WIDOWS, and Shirtkiller is well on its way to becoming a national force. I'm proud to announce that last week saw the debut of Edward's first shirt on Shirtkiller, depicting Henry Rollins' first show in Los Angeles as a member of BLACK FLAG in 1981. My efforts to encourage Mr. Colver to end his retirement to start covering the LA metal scene are almost certain to fail, but we can still celebrate what he has already done.
