If you're looking for an excuse to spend the weekend in San Francisco, we've got two good ones for you. San Francisco is the home of the club festival concept, not to mention psychedelia and poster art. This fall brings us two all-day festivals that feature stellar lineups from start to finish. The Frisco Freakout celebrates the emergence of a new psych scene up north. We can personally vouch for Wooden Shjips, Citay, and Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound as NoCal bands all worth traveling to see. But it's nice to see the inclusion of SoCal bands Magic Lantern and Sun Araw as well. This is truly a scene with no boundaries.
Four weekends later on November 7th, Witch, Saviours, Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound, Night Horse, Ancestors, Black Math Horseman, Red Fang, Imaad Wasif with Two Part Beast, Lecherous Gaze, and Citadelle will come together for "Fog Rising", also featuring the artwork of famed poster artists Alan Forbes, David D’Andrea, Alan Hynes and Marq Spusta. You can get a taste of these artists' work at the Serpent Sound website, where a little surfing will teach you that these guys are responsible for the concert posters for a slew of our favorite artists, including Black Cobra, Melvins, QOTSA, Earthless, Acid King, Graveyard, Pelican, Skeletonwitch and Witchcraft. It's no surprise they have come together with Tee Pee to put on this killer show.
