The City of Devils Will Be Torched

We’re so happy that TORCHE is going to be spending some time around these parts this week. They’re headlining the Bootleg Theater tonight, doing an in-store at Vacation Vinyl on Tuesday, and providing direct support for HIGH ON FIRE along with KYLESA on Thursday at the Glass House in Pomona. The band is back in full force and they’re going to be riding high on the energy of their recent album release, so make sure to get out and see them at least once.  Plus, listening to Steve Brooks sing instantly makes any day better.

TORCHE’s new EP, Songs for Singles, dropped last week – just in time to medicate any end-of-summer blues. It’s pretty rare to encounter a band that can pull off sludgy, distorted guitars with a cheerful vibe, but TORCHE always manages to provide the perfect mix of happy and heavy. Just as they did on Meanderthal in 2008, the band delivers a heavy dose of catchy yet thoughtful rock music on the new album. To wind it all down at the end, they leave us with a couple of lengthier songs that elicit an almost trance-like state from the listener. It’s a short yet satisfying addition to the band’s catalogue, and a must-have for anyone who likes good, raw songwriting.

The Fold refuses to acknowledge our significance so we have no ticket to give for tomorrow's show.,  But the good folks out at the Glass House have given us four pairs tickets to give away for TORCHE's Thursday all ages show with HIGH ON FIRE and KYLESA. To enter the contest, email us your full name to or contact us here.  The contest closes Wednesday at noon.  All winners will be notified that afternoon.
